Did you ever have a job where you just met awesome person after awesome person? I met Aaron Nevezie (below, right) while working at the Jazz Standard in NYC. He was running the sound board a few nights a week, and I was greeting patrons at the door. We struck up a friendship and I was so pleased to get to work with him on this album!
He and John Davis run The Bunker Studio. We recorded “Brainchildren” in a single day in their Broadway location, which was located in a basement in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It had a warm feeling, the ability to see everyone, and a nice piano… all the things we needed! (They have recently built a brand new studio a few blocks away…. check it out on their website!)
Aaron made recording feel breezy, and we also spent an intense few days together in the dead of winter mixing the album and doing some additional parts. Check out his guitar playing on “The Words I Don’t Say”…. nice!
Aaron also makes his own music…. take a listen!
