Meet the Brainchildren: Jason Domnarski

Jason Domnarski

Jason Domnarski is a fine pianist and composer, and I’m so happy that he’s been part of my band! Like me, he comes from a jazz background … and now is pushing the boundaries of what that means. He has a very sensitive and lyrical touch when he plays, and though he can play anything, he always knows how to keep things simple in service to a song.

Listen to his solo in my song “I Won’t Even Tell You” – so tasty!

Jason and I met when we both worked at the Jazz Standard in NYC – he was waiting tables and I was working the door. We immediately connected about music and became friends, and the rest is history.

Jason got married this year and moved to Paris! We miss him very much, and will hope to pull him in for a show or two! Here’s his list of what he’s done lately:

1. Got married.
2. Moved to Paris
3. Silent House, a film I composed music for, went to Sundance and thrived.
4. Hired several amazing teachers at Park Slope Rock School to accommodate the growing numbers.
5. Ate lots of Steak Tartare.
6. Turned 30.
7. Designed and taught several jazz history walking tours in Paris.
8. Spoke lots of French.
9. Wrote a bunch of new tunes.
10. Drank enough wine for an army.

If you’re in Paris, seek him out!
