The Pool Project!

by elizabeth | August 4th, 2010

In 2004, I swam in every outdoor public pool that NYC’s Parks & Recreation Department had to offer. Ever since, friends call me every year to ask for advice about which pools to go to. Which was the nicest? (It’s on Staten Island.) Which was the most disgusting? (Elmhurst, baby.)

This August, I’m doing it again. Only now there are more pools, and I have less time!

Yes, I’m nuts. But I love to swim! And I love to get out to parts of the city that I would never go to otherwise.

So come along with me as I swim in 37 pools in 5 boroughs in just over a month. Meet the NYC you’ve never seen before.

  1. I’d love to join you for a pool or two. You’re not going to miss the dumpster pools are you? (read all about them here… http://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/summerstreets/html/home/home.shtml)

  2. Anxious to see all of your “pool” excursions!

  3. Thanks to both of you, and to Sarah for the heads up about the Dumpster Pools!
